Organ builder (journeyman’s certificate)

An organ builder builds, maintains and repairs pipe organs of various types. The work involves working on the organ housing, air pump, bellows, manuals, stops, flue and reed pipes, voicing and tuning, historical systems such as mechanical, pneumatic and electric transfer systems. Key tasks include:

• Use of machines and hand tools
• Mechanical couplings
• Surface treatment and gluing, soldering and welding
• Drawing and visualizing
• Construction, design and aesthetics
• Quality assurance and HSE

You must be creative, dexterous and precise and have a good aesthetic appreciation.
