Counsellors for minorities

The Directorate of Integration and Diversity (IMDi) has established positions as counsellors for minorities at upper secondary schools that have many minority language pupils.

The counsellors for minorities are to be in close contact with pupils from minority backgrounds, parents, teachers, other counsellors, health care services and providers of leisure activities. Among other things they are to

  • help ensure that pupils from minority backgrounds complete upper secondary education and training successfully
  • provide concrete counselling and follow-up for individual pupils
  • create pupil and parent networks with the object of preventing negative social control, forced marriage, honour-related violence and female genital mutilation

More information, including which schools are to have counsellors for minorities, can be found on the website www.imdi.no.
