Basketmaker (journeyman’s certificate)

A basketmaker designs and produces basket products and restores old and newer woven products. Key tasks include:

• Manufacture of baskets and other woven products from a variety of materials, and of furniture according to new and traditional patterns
• Restoration and repair of woven furniture and seats, baskets and other woven objects made of various materials
• Offer advice and guidance in regard to restoration of old basketware furniture and woven products and maintenance of new and older objects
• Selection of appropriate materials
• Preparing and reading simple working drawings and sketches as required
• Evaluation and subsequent pricing of assignments
